Anna Perach (born in 1985 in Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine) is a visual artist who grew up in Israel and lives and works in London, United Kingdom, where she obtained a Master of Fine Arts (with distinction) from Goldsmiths, University of London (2020).
In 2024, Anna presented a solo institutional exhibition at Gasworks, London. Among her most significant group exhibitions are Material Worlds, Hayward Touring, various venues, United Kingdom (2024); The Infinite Woman, La Fondation Carmignac, Porquerolles, France (2024); Shamans, Communicate with the Invisible, Mart, Trento, Italy (2023); Threads, Arnolfini, Bristol, United Kingdom (2023); and Unruly Bodies, Goldsmiths CCA, London, United Kingdom (2023).
Anna was among the recipients of the Hopper Prize (2023), the Ingram Prize and the Gilbert Bayes Award (both in 2021). Her recent publications include features in The Guardian and The Art Newspaper.
Her practice explores the relationship between personal myths and cultural myths, between traditional narratives and female archetypes, investigating how constructions of identity are deeply rooted in folklore and ancient stories. Perach creates hybrid sculptures using techniques related to weaving and tufting (a traditional method for the creation of handmade textiles and carpets), which interrogate cultural roles, heritage, gender, and subjectivity, and which can be activated through performance.
