Common Time | Black History Month Florence – XI Edizione

In occasione dell’undicesima edizione di Black History Month Florence, MAD Murate Art District presenta un articolato programma espositivo concepito come una costellazione di mostre e interventi d’archivio, realizzato in collaborazione con l’American Academy in Rome. Il progetto mette in relazione le ricerche di artisti attualmente Rome Prize Fellows con i materiali d’archivio dello scrittore William Demby, che risiedette all’Accademia negli anni Cinquanta, attivando un dialogo che attraversa geografie, genealogie e stratificazioni temporali differenti.

Roma e Firenze emergono come poli interconnessi da interrogativi condivisi intorno a memoria, confinamento e trasformazione, all’interno dei quali la produzione culturale si configura come un processo relazionale, situato e stratificato. Nel quadro tematico Common Time, le mostre delineano uno spazio critico in cui il comune e l’ordinario operano come forze capaci di interrompere, deviare e riconfigurare temporalità storiche consolidate. Attraverso tre progetti espositivi distinti, dimensione intima e storia pubblica si rifrangono reciprocamente, offrendo strumenti di lettura per un’indagine del sé che si articola simultaneamente sul piano individuale e collettivo.

T.J. Dedeaux-Norris

Artist

T.J. Dedeaux-Norris is a conceptual artist, educator, and emergence coach. Their practice integrates embodied research, performance, drawing, and installation to explore identity, transformation, and the body as a site of knowledge in relation to histories of race, gender, belief, and power. They hold an MFA from Yale University and are currently a Rome Prize Fellow. Their work bridges contemporary art, pedagogy, and coaching through an embodied, justice-oriented lens.

Heather Hart

Artist

Heather Hart (Seattle, USA) is an artist who lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. Her interdisciplinary practice investigates the relationship between space, architecture, and the public sphere, focusing on processes of translation, slippage, and the construction of meaning that occur between these realms. Through sculpture, installation, and participatory devices, Hart conceives her work as an intermediary language capable of connecting architectural forms with the public gaze, activating... collective contexts of exchange and knowledge production. Her work has been presented in major museum institutions and public spaces in the United States and internationally.
